The Governors, staff and parents support the wearing of a school uniform. Our children are proud to belong to Rufford School and enjoy wearing their uniform.
We believe that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We also believe that certain school activities are facilitated by specialised and appropriate clothing (including organised events outside normal school hours).
On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery in school. Watches may be worn.
For the children’s personal safety, from September 2016, earrings must not be worn in school at any time.
Hair must not have shaved patterns in it or be coloured. In the interests of health and safety, long and/or braided hair should be kept tied back at all times.
We do not allow headwear to be worn during class time or inside school buildings, except for religious or medical reasons.
Hats are encouraged in warmer weather for protection against the sun during outdoor activities.
Children must not wear makeup and/ or nail varnish.
- navy shorts (not Bermuda shorts),
- pale blue round neck T-shirt with or without the school emblem,
- socks (if tights are worn during the day in KS2),
- joggers and sweat shirt,
- black pumps (the slip-on variety being more practical for the younger children),
- trainers for outdoor sport,
- pump bag
Key Stage 2 children also require swimming costumes, hats and towels.
School ties, jumpers, cardigans and PE tops with our logo are available from
