Well done to our two girl’s football teams who played in a friendly event at JMO. They played lots of games: winning some and losing some but, most importantly, they played as a team and supported each other.

In March, our KS2 Sports Hall Athletics Team travelled to Blackpool to represent West Lancashire in the county championships having qualified by winning the tournament at Burscough Sports Centre in December. They had an excellent day, finishing in 6th place out of 13 teams. The games organisers said ‘they showed teamwork, passion and respect in all their activities and were excellent at representing West Lancs!’ Thank you to Miss Travis for preparing them all for the competition, well done everyone!

For the 2nd year running we are the 'Small School Athletics Champions of West Lancashire!'

We will now represent West Lancs. in the finals to be held in Blackpool in March 2024.

Year 5 and Year 6 Football Competition 11 teams took part. Rufford came in 7th place. Lots of goals scored - but the goal of the tournament was definitely from Arthur who scored a super long range goal!

Zac and Flo (2022 - 2023 Sports Councillors) attended a sport’s presentation ceremony during which they collected Rufford School's Gold Mark Award. At the event they met guest speaker Oliver Partington who plays professional rugby league. Oliver plays as a prop and loose forward for the Salford Red Devils in the Betfred Super League and for the England Knights at international level.

On 17th October, junior children joined other schools at the TASA Composite Relay Event held at Rufford Park. We entered 6 teams altogether and they joined a total of 24 teams in each race. It was a very enjoyable event. The boy’s teams finished in 1st, 10th and 11th places whilst the girl’s teams were awarded 11th, 12th and 18th places. Congratulations to them all!

The Year 5 & 6 football team enjoyed their first success of this academic year on Tuesday, 10th October. They represented school at the TASA Football Competition finishing in second place in their league and as overall winners of the medium sized schools with 4 wins and 1 draw.
